| Expect this will stir up a hornet's nest, but once again I am going to give my biggest bugbear another airing, something I campaigned for when on the committee and for which I had considerable, but not enough support, DISBAND THE RESERVES. They are an expensive embarrassment, I watched them on Saturday and it only served to remind me what a waste of time they are- - not one good enough to make the step up to Western League Premier football, no first teamers coming back from injury ever try to regain match fitness in the reserves. The reserve team costs money to run and I could cite occasions when,in the hard times, I have gladly paid £10 to watch them just to cover referee expenses, Geoff Norris would confirm this.FAR more importantly, during our greatest years from '78 to '83 when we won the league, league cup, Alan Young cup, Somerset prof cup, there was NO RESERVE SIDE. The money saved from ditching this white elephant would pay the wage of at least one more decent first team player. The reserves cannot be promoted so have little to motivate them, by giving Somerset County F A notice before the end of December there would be no penalty for pulling out |

| IF there is no interaction between the First and Reserve teams then it seems pointless running a second string. Rather than a Reserve team, I would like to see a revamped version of what used to be the Western Counties Floodlight Cup with the emphasis on youth and an opportunity for fringe players to get games under their belts. This could replace the Somerset Premier Cup which for me, is a pointless competition in its present format and long overdue for the chop. |

It seems the reserve team manager is doing the job for you. Where have all the players gone. Paul antell had to play last week to make the numbers up. Now Jamie mines has gone to Larkhall who is going to score the goals. Maybe we could get Berti Allen out of moth balls dust him down and put him along side Kirk, maybe not idont think he would keep up with him. THATS KIRK I MEAN. After watching the youth team again this week, i would sugest we put them in the reserves wih a few experienced players and give the youth of this town the chance they deserve. |

Did Mr Crabtree not manage the Reserve team before taking over the first team? _________________ The man who is strange - even by Coleford standards |
